Opened in 2009 by life-long local, Harry Davies, the deli was originally destined for a cowshed behind local pub, The Scolt Head, but ended up situated in what was once a car spares shop.
The concept was simple: To bring together the finest artisanal and local produce we could find to create a one-stop-fine-food-shop in the heart of the community. The café soon evolved to compliment this and The De Beauvoir Deli was born!
Borough Market provided a wealth of fantastic producers to work with, including protagonists Neal’s Yard Dairy, Brindisa and Monmouth Coffee whilst Broadway Market has been a constant source of local artisan suppliers including shop favourites Newton & Pott and Downland Produce.
However, over recent years we have focused increasingly on our homemade range, making as much as we possibly can onsite in our tiny kitchen.
Today we produce an array of treats including our famous sausage rolls, scotch eggs and seasonal salad bar, as well as a range of own-label produce on our shelves. We’ve even established our own herb garden that supplies the kitchen with truly home-grown ingredients!
For everything we can’t cook, bake or grow ourselves, we will of course continue to work with the best suppliers we can find in order to offer the finest in-season produce and support local, independent producers wherever we can.
